Il bosco è stato la grande ricchezza del Cadore, da cui partivano migliaia di tronchi per i territori della
Serenissima. Lungo il corso del Piave, il pesante lavoro nelle segherie occupava soprattutto gli uomini
ma, come avveniva in tante altre località, le donne erano impiegate a ore per lavori vari e soprattutto per il
trasporto delle assi.

The Women of the Sawmills
The forest was the great wealth of Cadore, from which thousands of logs were sent to the territories of
the Serenissima. Along the course of the Piave River, the heavy work in the sawmills primarily involved
men, but, as in many other places, women were employed for various tasks by the hour, especially for
transporting the planks.
